Culinary Adventure Day One: Icebox Surprise

When my mom was growing up, every week her mom would create the infamous "icebox surprise" for dinner. This meal always included random food items that were left lingering in the fridge at the end of the week. My mom carried on the tradition, and as I found out today as I peered helplessly into the deserted shelves of the fridge, so will I.

Today I created this blog to share my first very gourmet icebox surprise. I will warn you, being the quirky, wild chica de la cocina that I am, my culinary adventure included no planned or accurate measurements.

With any further ado, the recipe:

Brussel Sprouts, Bacon and a Touch of Goddess Power

Ingredients (one serving):
1 tsp-1tbsp Butter
10-15 decent sized Brussel Sprouts
2 large leaves of Kale
1 tsp-1tbsp Goddess Dressing and Dijon Mustard
1/2 small Onion
handfull of chopped Leeks
2-3 cloves Garlic
pinch of Thyme
3 slices Bacon

Directions:
Melt butter in a pan. Cut brussel sprouts in half and put them face down into the pan and cook for a few minutes. Add onion, leeks, garlic. Cook for a few minutes and stir in pan then add the kale on top reduce heat to low. Sprinkle a little bit of crushed thyme on top. Cook the bacon in another pan. Mix a tiny bit of Goddess Dressing and Dijon mustard together for a special flavor. When the bacon is done, chop it up in little pieces and add to the veggies. Finally, thank the animals and vegetables that will now nourish your beautiful body, and ENJOY!!!
